Tokyo street art – a pictorial

I

love street art, be it giant murals by professional artists or small sticker art on mailing labels. You can kind of tell the soul of a city or neighborhood by the artwork and tagging. Walking down any street I often spend far too much time examining each lamp-post for interesting stickers. I love them because someone took the time to make these, place them, and you can’t take them with you, you can’t buy them, all you can do is look, take a photograph and move on. It’s anonymous, fun, personal and free art.

Pretty much every square inch of some parts of Tokyo are covered with sticker-art; like armor to protect against the boredom of everyday life? Layer after layer of small sticky pieces art in various stages of decay. It’s beautiful.
