Did you spot my sticker?

U

sually, you’ll find sticker art clumped together on public utility boxes, signs, bar bathrooms, or anywhere else that isn’t private property. Often it’s layered year after year, sometimes durable vinyl or quickly fading postal slips – it often reveals a lot about a neighbored, sometimes the artist has something real to say, and – it’s just cool, free ‘art.’

As a huge fan of sticker art, one of the things I enjoy most about visiting a new city is hunting through the streets and alleys to find artwork – be it a mural, stencil or sticker art.

Can you find me?

Sometimes it’s the context of the sticker that makes it more memorable than the image itself – the damage done to the artwork, the stickers it’s placed next to, or the location.

In 2019 I had some stickers printed – using a photo modified with the Snapchat ‘baby filter’ – (too cute), especially in pink.

When visiting a new destination I’d leave them around town and see if other people would pick them up and stick them someplace. From Tokyo and Bangkok to Iceland and the Faroe Islands.

Ocean is blowing on me

Initially, I felt quasi weird about this – my stickers aren’t art, they’re promotion. But then, looking through some of my fave photos of sticker art – a lot of them are for brands, bands, skateboard lines, or individual promotion – so, why not? The goal of this sticker campaign isn’t to drive traffic to my site, instead – just wanted to see who would spot them, what their story was, and see if maybe they found it intriguing enough to snap a photo of and visit this site.

I’d love to see a photo and hear where you found one of my stickers in the comments below.

Hey, I found your sticker in Jerusalem, Israel, in a pub called Sira. I don’t know if you place it there yourself, or someone else did it, but, just in case you were here, in Israel, I hope you enjoyed this country. Well, all the best with your project.
